MAC sponsors third bus trip to St. Louis Symphony on April 24

The Mattoon Arts Council sponsored “A Trip to the Symphony” on Sunday, April 24, to hear a performance of “Dvorak 7” by the St. Louis Symphony. About 20 area residents attended the event, hosted by former MAC chairman and well-known Mattoon violinist Thomas LeVeck. Following the musical performance, the group enjoyed dinner on The Hill before returning to Mattoon.

Group enjoys "A Trip to the Symphony"

Thirty-three music lovers traveled to St. Louis on Oct. 19, 2014, for Mattoon Arts Council's A Trip to the Symphony. Thomas LeVeck, who performed with the St. Louis Symphony for 20 years, was the host for the evening. The group heard Cindy McTee's "Einstein's Dream," Max Bruch’s “Violin Concerto No. 1” and Hector Berlioz’s “Symphonie fantastique.” Guest conductor Leonard Slatkin met with the group prior to the performance. Following the symphony the group had a delicious meal at LoRusso's on The Hill.
